⚙️ Setup Guide

  1. 1Download the ZIP archive and extract the package.
  2. 2On macOS, run the single Install CaptionForge.command at the top of the unzipped download. On Windows, open com.captionforge.panel and run Install CaptionForge.bat.
  3. 3Restart Premiere Pro or After Effects.
  4. 4Open Window → Extensions (Legacy) → CaptionForge — AI Captions, sign in, and hit Generate.

Need a managed ZXP install?

Use the ZIP installer above. The ZXP file requires a production Adobe signing certificate before it can be installed by Extension Manager; an unsigned ZXP will not appear in After Effects.

Prefer manual install?

If the installer cannot be run, extract the downloaded ZIP package. Copy the com.captionforge.panel folder into the matching per-user CEP location, then enable PlayerDebugMode for CSXS 10–12.

Make sure to copy all template fonts from the panel's fonts folder to your system fonts to enable animated styling.

Troubleshooting

The panel doesn't appear under Window → Extensions (Legacy)
Run the installer included inside the downloaded panel folder, then fully quit and relaunch After Effects. The panel requires After Effects 2022 or newer. If you installed manually, enable PlayerDebugMode for CSXS 10, 11, and 12 before relaunching.
After Effects can't export audio or video
The panel sets up AE's output template automatically. On rare versions that restrict automation, create a manual Output Module template named CaptionForge Audio (Edit → Templates → Output Module, format WAV, Audio Output enabled).
Do you require a cloud subscription to generate captions?
Yes, transcription and caption rendering limits are governed by your account's rate limits. You can monitor your active quota and export logs directly inside your User Dashboard.
